Category: Getting It Together

Okay folks, believe it or not it all fit and there’s even room for more.  I’ll probably create a packing list on a page in case anybody else tries this, but for now, I’m all packed up and ready to roll.

I also, now have an assistant.  My daughter Holly, who by the way is a professional at this.  (See her blog on “being a full-time RV’r at:

where she provides info on RVing, camping, couponing, home schooling kids and anything else she can think of)  She will be helping update and dress up the site.

I’ll start blogging again on Monday when we head for the airport around 4:00 a.m.  (Somebody give me a gun)  Anyway, can’t wait to get going and generate some excitement.  Till then……

Progress!! Order from chaos……

Everything needs to have a place. GET THERE!!!!

Hello All,

Well, today was spent cleaning out the garage, so the Gazelle can have a place to park her car while we are gone. I then moved on to the packing. It seems to be taking shape; although, I haven’t gotten to the clean panties as yet. The stretch strap is loaded and ready to go. In the big picture it looks like everything is going to fit and I should have the majority ready to go by tomorrow. I’ll update when it’s all ready, so you don’t get too bored watching me pack for five days.

From what I understand, Gazelle packed last night and is ready to hit the road…..or rather the airport in our case. I’m starting to get the itch to ride and from what Vulture tells me, they are having a great ride…..right up to where his gas line broke, soaked him in gasoline and stopped returning the extra fuel to the tank. However, since he carries every BMW motorcycle tool known to man with him, he was able to rob a bolt from the Birdman’s bike, plug the broken line, clamp it off and ride the next 560 miles to the BMW dealer in Salt Lake City, Utah. The kicker here is that he is so anal retentive that he had new steel connectors shipped from the BMW dealer in San Antonio to the dealer in Salt Lake City, just so he wouldn’t have to take a chance on them not having the part to repair the bike. Well, he arrived at the dealership at 9:00 a.m. and so did UPS. Vulture is now recommending that UPS take over the government. Seems like they have got their act together!

As you may have noticed, posts in this blog are assigned to various categories. For instance, this post is under “Getting It Together.” Another is “Chasing The Wind” and still another is “Uncategorized.” (They are not all in use yet.) With this in mind, I’m starting another category called “Finding Vulture.” Finding Waldo would have been better, but Vulture’s name is not Waldo… it really wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense. So the idea will be to go to the category “Finding Vulture” and try to determine his/our location from the photo he provides. If you are the first to identify the location, you will be the winner of that day’s prize and will be entered into the competition for the Grand Prize. (Neither prize has been determined and there is no guarantee that you would get it anyway.) But, give it a shot and have some fun.

So, good day, happy trails and I’ll see ya soon,

Packing IT Up – Will it all fit?

Pack It Up

The beginning of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole that’s way too small to start with. Is it possible to pack 6 weeks of clothing into 3 saddle bags that aren’t much bigger than a bread box? And, if I get it all in there, will it stay? I think this may be one of those “good luck sucka” kinda thing.

And So It Begins………

This is a test of my new blog. I have no idea if this is going to work, but I will do my best to keep you apprised of our travels. Check back often. You never know what’s around the next bend in the road.

Although Vulture and Birdman have a headstart, Gazelle and El Gato will soon catch up, as they travel First Class by air to Seattle and bypass the Mickey Mouse part of the excursion. (through West Texas, Ugh!!) We’ll all meet up there and ride the 2,500 miles or so to our main destination…..Inuvik, Northwest Territories, BC.

Over the next few days I’ll post some preparation info. We hope to be on our way on the 1st of August. Until next time…….
